I am so so so excited to be apart of an extreamly talented group of photographers that have decided to commit to a year long project we are calling… “living in the moment”. Living in the Moment is capturing real life as it is right now for my family. the everyday things that happen, yes even if they appear to be boring or mundane. they won’t be whenI look back at them in a year, five years or ten years from now. I am especially excited about this project as it will help me in capturing the first year of our new guys life (whom is due to arrive in November). I am hoping to capture as much as I can on camera his first year and especially those moments with his brother and sister.
This first post took place at the very beginning of the month… it was Bella’s first day of preschool at MECC. She was especially excited because she is at the same school Jacob goes to for Kindergarten, with Jacob’s same teacher he had the last 2 years for preschool, AND she gets to ride the bus to school with Jacob. Honestly, I was so nervous about how she would do because although she is certainly my spunky one, outgoing on, and sassy one.. she has a hard time being away from her mom. But she loved it. The first images are from her “phase in” day at school. This day is only an hour and the parents come with them. They do a few things in the classroom with their teachers and then we take a tour of the school and get to know her classroom. It was so fun to see her getting excited about all that was to come for her in the upcoming year.

Now we are to her first “realy” day of school. For the last several years I have taken Jacob and Bella out for lunch before their first day of preschool. It is such a special time for us and the kids will always remember it when the school year is about to start and will ask if we get to go to lunch like last year. (not sure what we will do next year when Jacob is in first grade, but I am sure we will come up with something special). Of course she wanted McDonalds.. it wouldn’t really be mom’s first choice, but it was her special day and so McDonalds it was.. chicken nuggest and a milkshake. :)

Then we headed to the bus stop to meet big brother Jacob.. I just love how much the love each other……

It has now been about 3 weeks since Bella started preschool. She loves it! She loves getting on the bus, loves sitting with her big brother, but does have a bit of a hard time when it is time to say goodbye to her brother after they get off the bus. I found out the other day through an email from Jacob’s teacher that she cries going from the bus to her class.. I have to share this because it just shows how much they love each other…
i just had to tell you….
jacob was walking his sister down the hall and she was sobbing, scared to go to preschool. he gave her this giant hug but she was still crying, and i told him it was ok for him to walk her to her room and then come back. they held hands all the way to the room and then he came back and just shrugged his shoulders and said “she just gets really sad sometimes…”
every teacher was just DYING watching this!!! what a sweet, sweet brother. just wanted you to know! :
Totally breaks my heart that she cries everyday, but makes me smile that she has Jacob their to take care of her. I ask her all the time if she loves preschool and she says she does and I can tell as she talks about all the fun thing she does and the friends she plays with on her way home. Tonight I heard her talking to herself (ash she does often).. she was saying “I love preschool… I just miss my brother”. How stinkin cute is she. So proud of my kids. xxoo
And because I can’t leave Jacob totally out of this post here are a few pictures of him reading!!! His kindergarten teacher, which we all just adore, asked the kids to have their parents take a picture of them reading and if we sent the pictures in she would hang them up. Well, Jacob was all over this. After all he knows his mom loves to take pictures. And when he asked me to take his picture I was shocked as my own kids are certainly my hardest subjects. So he told me where we should go and I took a few pictures. I am so happy he is so excited about reading.. I couldn’t be prouder of him. xxoo

Now you need to head on over to Melissa Zilman’s living in the moment’s blog post. She is an amazing photographer out of Texas whom I just adore all the fun living in the moment captures she takes quite often of her own two adorable boys!
